Babywearing is a timeless practice and spans across almost every culture. Wearing your baby promotes a healthy, strong bond between baby and caregiver, and allows the caregiver to function through their daily life while keeping their baby close.
But the babywearing world can be overwhelming between all the different carriers, all the different carries and the whirlwind of advice that is shared between person-to-person. To help navigate this world, The Rumina Center is now offering babywearing consultations to assist our clients in wearing their babies confidently and lovingly.
One-On-One Consultations
These 45 minute consultations are offered on Saturdays between one to two caregivers and their child or children of any age and the babywearing consultant. During this consultation, caregivers are welcome to bring their own carriers and/or try on carriers in our carrier library. It is asked that you make one appointment per two carriers and/or per child (with the exception of multiples) to allow time for proper fitting, instruction and trouble-shooting. A follow up session might be needed.
Price: $60 for a 45 minute session
Babywearing Group
On the third Saturday every month, The Rumina Center will host a babywearing group where caregivers are welcome to bring their children and carriers and converse with others about babywearing. During this time, brief troubleshooting will be offered by the babywearing consultant, and the baby carrier library will be available for others to explore and try. If there’s a specific carrier you are interested in, please make a request through our form at least a week ahead of time and we will try to meet your needs.
Babywearing Group COVID Protocols:
- Masks are required to be properly worn at all times. No exceptions.
- There is limited space and you MUST sign up to attend the group.
- Temperatures will be checked before joining the group.
- Please only bring the child/ren that you are wearing at this time.
- If you are feeling at all under the weather, please wait for next month’s group.

About Our Babywearing Consultant
Stephanie Rice is an IBCLC with the Rumina Center and a Certified Babywearing Consultant through the Center for Babywearing Studies (CBWS). She has three children of her own, all of whom she has worn and is still wearing through different carriers from the newborn days to toddlerhood. She also has experience with wearing children with special needs such as with sensory processing disorder and autism.
