Finding Your Grounding through Somatic Breath Work with Claire Galloway
The workshop will be a 90-minute introduction to a somatic exploration of the power of breath and how it helps you connect to your body and regulate your nervous system.
Somatic practices work from the body up so that we can fully understand how to regulate our nervous system through movement, breath, and self massage. Use all of these tools to truly comprehend what ‘grounding yourself’ can mean. Imagine what it might feel like to be able to sense your full body and use your breath to find inner calm any time you need it! And what better time to keep connecting to your body than when you are growing and/or sustaining another little being?
There will also be a specific focus on how to use these tools to prepare for high-anxiety situations, like labor itself, coming down from stressors, and impending holidays. And, of course, ways of being a source of calm to co-regulate with your little one or partner.
We have become so disconnected from our bodies as humans, especially sitting in front of our screens all day! And as we grow humans or sustain them after labor, there is even more of a disconnect.
By exploring breath, we connect to our entire being, find peace and safety within ourselves, and can allow our inner selves to fly. This, in turn, brings that same sense of peace and safety to those around you, including your baby, whether in utero or in the world beside you.
What to wear/bring:
Wear comfortable movement clothes and come with an open, curious self
Babies are also more than welcome!
If you’d like (and have one) to you can bring a yoga mat and a Coregeous ball (or small exercise ball)
